We are seeking a Full time enthusiastic Medical secretary to join out busy but established secretarial team of 7 in Ophthalmology at the Leicester Royal infirmary at University hospitals of Leicester. The duties are varied and will include the administrative and secretarial requirements of a busy Ophthalmology department.

You will be a well-motivated team member who is able to prioritise and work on your own initiative with minimal supervision. You must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, a flexible approach in line with the Trust agenda of service reconfiguration and be capable of working accurately and efficiently under pressure.

The successful candidate will have excellent typing, English language and grammar skills as well as experience of working in a medical office/clerical environment. Experience of pathology terminology and pathology/healthcare IT systems is desirable but not essential as full training in these specialist skills will be given.

We currently have 23 Consultants, 14 fellows and 9 registrars. The department is the largest department in UHL delivering one third of all UHL outpatients. The candidate will be expected to manage the admin for 3 Ophthalmology consultants subject to allocation.
