Part time 29 hours/ week

Hours: Monday – Friday (plus weekend and bank holiday roster)

Based at Leicester Royal Infirmary

Are you looking to develop a career in healthcare or the specialty of Physiotherapy? We have a vacancy for a Physiotherapy assistant based on the Acute Stroke ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The Physiotherapy assistant supports a multi-disciplinary team providing stroke rehabilitation working under the guidance of qualified Physiotherapists and as part of a supportive team of therapists and other support staff.

Post holders will be required to work their core hours Monday to Friday. In addition, you will also be required to work weekends on a roster system. This occurs approximately once every 10 weeks.

The post holder will work with registered Physiotherapists to develop the skills to support them in the assessment and treatment of stroke patients in order to facilitate their discharge from hospital.

If you are interested in this post you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to be motivated, organised and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Experience of working with a variety of different people in a caring environment will be an advantage. Clerical experience and the ability to use computers are desirable in these posts, as administrative and clerical duties are involved.

Previous experience is desirable, however work experience in a healthcare setting will be considered if appropriate.

You will receive a comprehensive Trust and departmental induction, regular supervision and annual appraisal and on ongoing training to develop knowledge appropriate to your role. You will be expected to complete the National Care Certificate and you will receive support to complete this within your working hours. This is a great opportunity to learn all about Physiotherapy and what is involved in rehabilitation of patients following a stroke.
