Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse Coronary Care Unit

We are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for three band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurses to join the CCU team.


We require motivated, enthusiastic forward thinking people able to adapt to the changing needs in service to join the Coronary Care Unit team at Glenfield Hospital.


A minimum 3 years post registration experience, preferably with some cardiology experience. Knowledge and understanding of emergency admissions and pressures of managing high acuity patient centred care and managing flow in prioritising workload would be advantageous.


As a member of the Coronary Care Unit team you will work closely with cardiology medical team, Cardiac Angiocatheter Suite and the Clinical Decisions Unit.


Admissions to the Coronary Care Unit at Glenfield include STEMIs, out of hospital Cardiac Arrests, Complete Heart Block, ITU Cardiology step down patients as well as post TAVI procedure patients requiring close post procedural monitoring.


Prior experience of working in acute admissions, acute cardiac care environment, ITU or Coronary Care Unit would be desirable.


The motivation to assist the CCU senior management team in leading the team through innovation and change is essential.


You will be flexible in your approach, be able to demonstrate the ability to provide high standards of nursing patient centred care, possess excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise a challenging work load.


The successful candidates may also be given specific responsibility for education, competency and compliance therefore a commitment to teaching and professional development is essential.


We will provide a supported induction package which will include the opportunity to work in angio catheter suite and cardiology ward areas to gain insight into the wider RRCV CMG.


You will be joining an exceptional and established team within the Coronary Care Unit but also the wider RRCV. We encourage new ideas, skills, ways of working that you bring to the CCU team as we strive to be the best team.


The positions available are full time (part time hours may be considered) with three permanent posts and one 12 month secondment opportunity dependant on standard of applicants. Hours of working will be long days 7.30 – 20.00 hours and nights 19.30-08.00 hours and the positions are fully rotational.
