We wish to recruit individuals to join our bank of Biomedical Assistants in the Special Haematology laboratory of the Blood Sciences Department of University Hospitals Leicester (UHL).

Bank Biomedical Assistants may be called upon to cover absences within the department. We are looking for individuals who are flexible as to their working hours and their ability to cover shifts at short notice. There may be a requirement to work at any of the UHL sites, over a 24/7 period however the main base will be the Leicester Royal Infirmary with core hours 09:00-17:30 Monday to Friday.

Duties will be varied and include the input of patient data on to the laboratory computer, preparation of samples for analysis and storage, electronic scanning of request forms, dealing with telephone enquiries and general support to other laboratory staff. Full training will be given.

Applicants must have good typing skills and should have experience with data input and a good telephone manner. A background in science subjects to GCSE level and experience in using computers would be an advantage as would previous experience of working in a Clinical Laboratory.
