WESSEX REGIONAL GENETICS LABORATORY

Genomics LIMS and IT Manager

BAND 7 – 37.5hr a week (Mon – Fri 9.00–5.30)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic IT systems administrator to join our innovative and dedicated Genomics team based at the Wessex Regional Genetics Lab, Salisbury District Hospital as a Genomics LIMS and IT Manager.

The Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory, a member of the Wessex and West Midlands Genomic Laboratory Hub (WWMGLH), is a UKAS accredited laboratory at the forefront of NHS Genomic Medicine, providing state-of-the-art integrated diagnostic testing services for the diagnoses of rare disease and cancer at a national and international level. The laboratory has a close association with clinical services based at University Hospitals Southampton as well as the University of Southampton, and hosts high profile basic academic research.

The key role of the successful candidate will be to take a leading role in the provision, maintenance and development of specialist laboratory information management systems as well as service redesign, innovation and development. Applicants must have a Degree in a Computer Science or related subject, or the equivalent professional experience, and be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge / competency in a range of key areas to the equivalent of a postgraduate diploma level of knowledge.

GETTING TO WORK

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in installments from your salary. Many staff use the DBS update service at a cost of £13 per annum but you need to sign up for this via their website.
