CHUGGS CMG (Cancer, Haematology, Urology, Gastro and General Surgery)

Applications are invited for this post in the department of Urology based at the Leicester General Hospital.

We are looking for the right candidate to join our high-profile team at an exciting time.
The service currently provides all urological activity for Leicestershire, offering all sub-specialties. We are a tertiary referral centre for cancer, andrology, stones and female urology. We have our own on-site lithotripter. We are just embarking upon our 5-year development plan for Urology which includes the building of a consultant-led Urology Planned Treatment Centre offering one stop outpatient Urology.
We continue to expand our robotic surgery programme for major cancer, and work in partnership with other Trusts providing cancer services for Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
Autumn 2017 will see the launch of East Mercia Urology as a single department, bringing together urology expertise from Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. It will provide a population of over two million patients with access to specialist care including, but not limited to, robotic assisted surgery, lithotripsy and brachytherapy. We anticipate that recruitment, teaching and education and access to clinical trials will also be further strengthened by this Partnership
Urology currently has 11 Consultant Urological Surgeons. They are supported by 2 Specialty Doctors,4 SpRs and 12 Junior Doctors and a team of Specialist Nurses. The department has a significant focus on research through clinical trials, clinical research and through strong links to Leicester and Nottingham Trent Universities.
Our Consultant team has national and international profiles and contributes significantly to the major Urological meetings (BAUS, American Urology Association (AUA) and European Association of Urology (EAU).

There is an on-call requirement for this role. An interest in Andrology would be desirable.

Candidates should have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and MRCS.
