This vacancy is on a fixed term/ secondment basis for 6 months. Secondments will be considered for NHSBT staff wishing to apply for this role. Please discuss the possibility of a secondment with your current line manager before applying for this role.


Working as part of the processing team you will be responsible for the manufacturing of all blood that comes in from donors. This is a vital part of the organisation, as this is where we make the blood products that go on to save people lives.

Join us and you’ll handle a wide range of tasks, including the processing of blood donations, using a variety of specialised laboratory equipment. We’ll also look to you to keep our computerised production records up-to-date and to make sure that any incoming blood supplies are properly received and accounted for.

It’s a role that demands great team working skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to precisely follow written instructions. Ideally, we would also like to see GCSEs at grades C or above in Maths and English or another equivalent qualification, such as an NVQ.


The normal working hours for this role are 30 hours per week, which equates to 4 night shifts per week (00:00 midnight – 08:00 am). The shifts you will work will be discussed at interview.
