Biomedical Scientist Point of Care Testing (POCT) Full-time Post (Band 6) X 2

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our small but highly committed point of care team working closely with nursing and medical colleagues.

You will possess a degree or equivalent qualification approved by the IBMS / HCPC and will have successfully completed a postgraduate specialist portfolio with sufficient post registration experience in order to enter at band 6, or have a post graduate degree in a relevant subject.

You will have a special interest in POCT and will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of professional expertise and quality, whilst supporting the team in delivering the Trust objectives of a high quality, cost effective service.

You will form part of a multidisciplinary POCT team that work across three UHL hospital sites. Knowledge of relevant guidelines and experience of inspections by regulatory bodies would be an advantage. The nature of the work requires you to be flexible in your approach to work.

This is an exciting time to join our team as we develop, influence and deliver a new service model of connected network dual blood glucose and ketone meters to support the Trusts insulin management strategy. We are looking for an experienced individual who can drive these changes through: promoting a vision, effective influencing and the ability to form constructive relationships

Training in all aspects of the job will be given. You must also be a well-motivated team member who is able to prioritise and work on your own initiative with minimal supervision. You must be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and a high level of numeracy. You should have previous experience with pathology computer systems. You must also be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing CPD. Attendance at external meetings as appropriate will be encouraged.

Suitable Part time candidates may be considered on a flexible job share agreement so long as full time hours are covered.
