Do you want to develop your Urology skills and knowledge? Do you want to be part of a forward thinking and dynamic department? Do you want to be part of a team about to embark on an exciting journey of reconfiguration which will give the department opportunities to commence new ways of working? If so, 28a is the area for you.

We are a dedicated Urology Unit currently offering Monday – Friday out-patients services for Urological patients requiring diagnostic or therapeutic interventions for a variety of Urological conditions.

 

We offer unique opportunities to undertake training to deliver both Nurse-led services and support Medical colleagues perform out-patient procedures and assessments. We offer full training alongside experienced nurses supported by our highly skilled health care assistants.

We are looking for enthusiastic motivated individuals who would thrive on the challenges of these diverse and busy clinics. Our current service delivery includes urodynamic assessments, diagnostic flexible cystoscopy lists, trial without catheter clinics, prostate biopsy clinics, lithotripsy treatment for renal stones, complex catheter clinics, continence and andrology services.

 

You must be able to work on your own initiative, be forward thinking with good prioritisation and organisational skills and have the desire to be part of an expanding nursing team who are at the forefront of ever developing Nurse-led services. Excellent communication skills are key not only to improving your patients experience but also to contribute towards effective teamwork.

We are dedicated to invest our time in developing you professionally as an individual. In return you will have your own personal support through the specialist nurse team and practice development nurse in order to meet your own development needs.


We can also offer bespoke rotational opportunities available between the clinics and inpatient elective and emergency wards. These can be arranged between two or all three areas dependent upon your wishes and needs.

 

The future for urology is exciting with reconfiguration plans in the next few years which will allow the urology service to expand further in order to meet the growing demand for our service.

 

Leicester urology service offers specialist services such as Robotic surgery for prostate cancer and nerve stimulation therapy for continence as well as other complex urological surgery not offered by other centres. We are the biggest penile cancer centre and have both the head of BAUS and 3 urology professors working for us.
