Do something extraordinary in IT Support

At NHSBT we stand for hope. We stand for life. We stand for helping people do something extraordinary, saving and improving the lives of others. Are you ready to play your part?

Making the most of precious donations of blood and tissues depends on more than just medical expertise. Our ability to collect, use and manage vast volumes of data and logistics information also depends on the skills of IT professionals like you.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) supplies around 2 million units of blood a year to hospitals in England and North Wales and last year received 3,500 organ and 4,000 tissue donations and banked 2,200 cord blood units from across the UK.

Joining our restructured ICT Directorate, you’ll work face-to-face with internal customers to provide advice and support of IT hardware, software and systems. You’ll also undertake local operational tasks that are essential to keep local services working smoothly.

You’ll have experience of providing IT technical support in a multi-site organisation. This will be built on a degree-level qualification in computing and good understanding of the Windows 10 and Windows 2012 environment. You’ll also demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a range of Microsoft Office products. Ideally, you’ll be a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST).

Your technical expertise will be matched by a strong drive for customer service. Well organised with excellent communications skills, you’ll be able to solve technical issues for a variety of internal customers, both face to face and over the phone. You must be able to work flexibly and participate in an on-call rota.
