HDFT are seeking to recruit a 0-19 Junior Public Health Nurse development role for SCPHN sponsorship in School Nursing or Health Visiting for a fixed term 12 month post. The role will be part of an innovative and dynamic 0-19 Service dedicated to working towards improved public health outcomes for children and families in Gateshead, delivering high quality universal and targeted health services to meet the key improvement priorities for the 0-19 population. The post holder will participate in a development programme in preparation for applying for SCPHN sponsorship and will be given opportunities to work alongside the wider 0-19 Team and Specialist Roles.

The role will involve working within School, Early Years and community settings, including family homes.

Key aspects of the role include: Health promotion planning and delivery, Health Needs Assessment, Multi-agency working to support children and families with complex health and emotional health needs, Safeguarding and Looked After Health Assessments, Drop In sessions in both schools and communities, and ensuring visibility and accessibilityto children, young people and families both in school and the local community.

Excellent communication skills and a passion for public health are essential, alongside good organisational skills, flexibility to meet the needs of the service and ability to travel independently to meet service delivery as required.
