Our services are expanding; we are actively seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated band 7 sonographers to join our forward thinking team of friendly & supportive professionals in providing a range of ultrasound examinations.
High specification scanning equipment is available on three acute hospital sites: Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital and five community hospital sites. Our work includes, general abdominal, small parts, gynaecological, MSK, DVT & vascular, paediatrics and obstetrics (including early pregnancy scanning and NT screening). We cover in-patients, outpatient & GP referrals. We are one of the largest providers for Ultrasound in the UK with over 20 scan rooms carrying out over 6,000 outpatient scans a month.

 

You will need to hold a qualification in Medical Ultrasound and must be competent to undertake the scan and report it independently. HCPC registration or equivalent is also essential to this post. You will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills. As a large teaching organisation we provide teaching experiences for student sonographers & specialist registrars
The department is committed to supporting your personal development plans. We have Sonographer role development opportunities which currently includes DVT, head & neck and paediatric training, with future possibilities of MSK & interventional

 


Full time hours are 37.5 however part time hours (15 or more) are available and extended days/flexible working hours will be considered to meet service needs. Positions are also available for staff looking to join the bank.

We are happy to consider applications from students nearing the end of their Ultrasound training, or from midwife/physiotherapy sonographers who are qualified in ultrasound.

 


Leicester is a multicultural city situated in the heart of the East Midlands. The city has two universities (Leicester University & De Montfort university (DMU) and is home to Leicester City Football Club (2016 premiership winners) and the Leicester Tigers (Premiership Rugby Team) as well as other professional sports teams. The city has the National Space Centre and the King Richard III visitor centre; it has a cultural quarter with a renowned theatre (Curve) and hosts events for many festivals throughout the year. The city is within easy reach of open countryside; it has Rutland water nearby and is close to the Peak District National Park.
Leicester offers good transport links, it is at the junction of the M1 and M69 which gives easy access to the country by car, a main railway line runs through the city (London can be reached in just over 1 hour) and East Midlands Airport is approximately 30 minutes away

The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner, promoting best practice and high standards within the Ultrasound department.
