We are looking for an experienced Information Analyst to join a growing business based close to Manchester Airport. This is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary and the opportunity for self-development and progression. Our company runs the NHS Benchmarking Network (“the Network”). The Network develops and delivers national benchmarking projects for the NHS to support local service improvement and national policy development.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Project Managers and Directors in delivering Network projects by undertaking data analysis. You will be allocated to a number of projects and may report to a different team member for each project. The role will also contribute to technical product development for the Network.

In addition, the role will support the Project Managers and Directors on other company consultancy projects as requested.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

Project responsibilities

  • Design and build Excel based interactive toolkits to meet client requirements working with Project Managers/Directors to agree specifications and complying with the company’s standard methods of product development
  • Generate analysis and charts in Excel for Project Managers/Directors to assist them with interpretation and validation of data
  • Generate bespoke pdf or PowerPoint reports for Network members from Excel
  • To assist the Project Managers and Directors in managing benchmarking projects including:
  • Answering helpline calls and emails and maintaining a log of queries and responses
  • Undertaking data validation, identifying outliers and sending queries to members, logging all queries and responses
  • Ensuring a high degree of customer service is provided to clients throughout the benchmarking process

General responsibilities:

  • Attending Network Reference Group meetings as appropriate where you will contribute to discussions on data specifications, analysis and technical requirements
  • To attend Network events and exhibitions, demonstrate Network products to clients and potential clients
  • To undertake additional ad-hoc analysis as requested by Directors/Project Managers in line with the overall needs of the business
  • To contribute to the continuing improvement of company products and services to the Network with new ideas and innovations
  • Provide leadership and development to junior team members in issues around data collection, storage, and analysis

Person specification:

  • Advanced Excel VBA programming skills with the ability to automate reports and manipulate and interpret complex data
  • Focus on data procedures such as data mining, data cleansing, process automation and making sure that data is easily accessible.
  • Strong analytic and numeracy skills with the ability to understand and present data in different representations
  • Ability, or desire to write SQL statements.
  • Provide analytical and technical support to projects
  • Advising on best working practice for spreadsheet, database design and data processing
  • Act as the link between business requirements and technology solutions.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and targets
  • Strong communicator, (both written and verbal)
  • Evidence of successful team working
  • Evidence of good customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn and to engage with new concepts and approaches.
  • Self-sufficient, proactive, have a good work ethic and be able to work with various departments within the company.


  • The role will be based at the Benchmark Management Consulting Ltd offices in Manchester
  • Additional travel will be required to attend meetings and events across the UK. Occasional overnight stays will be required.
