An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, accurate, efficient and self-motivated individual to join our friendly professional team in the busy Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Production Unit at the City Hospital campus.

This interesting and varied role will require you to process and manufacture a wide range of cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, antibiotics and clinical trial preparations. The work will be varied and challenging, working to tight schedules to achieve targets and responding to customer needs and deadlines. Therefore, you should be able work under pressure, to prioritise and organise workloads and be able to work alone or as part of a bigger team.

You will contribute towards an efficiently run unit, maintaining and improving our service to patients. We are looking for confident, self-motivated individuals with excellent IT, communication, problem solving and decision making skills.

You will be required to learn all aspects of this challenging role which includes aseptic manufacturing, maintenance of equipment/facilities, clerical and stock control duties.

You will be: flexible; required to work shifts by rota (including evenings, weekends and bank holidays); committed to hospital Pharmacy; enthusiastic; adaptable to change and ready for a challenge.

Previous experience in aseptic production and dispensing is desirable but there will be full training in all aspects of aseptic cytotoxic manufacture provided for suitable candidates.

One permanent position is available for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (37.5 hours).

You must be in possession of the NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services in the relevant units for pharmacy production to work as a Band 3. If working towards this or in need to undertake this qualification, the successful applicant will be a Band 2 until the qualifications are gained.

    • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
