If you are, we have the ideal opportunity for a Civilian Medical Practitioner available at Regional Occupational Health Team, Donnington, Telford. We're looking for someone to provide occupational healthcare advice in line with GMC standards to ensure our objectives to optimise patient care are met.

You will be part of a friendly team to provide a first-class medical service for military personnel and entitled civilians. The working environment is welcoming, inclusive and supportive, and you will be valued for the skills you bring.

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. This is achieved through the provision of an occupationally aware primary healthcare service which includes dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

Duties of this post include, but are not limited to;

·Providing Occupational Health (OH) advice to all registered patients during normal practice hours, including conducting appropriate Fitness for Work assessments and when appropriate provided OH advice to management.

·Working in collaboration with all members of the primary health care team and line management.

·Being familiar with relevant major incident plans.

·Providing appropriate preventative medical advice to both individuals and chain of command specific pre-deployment issues.

·Providing appropriate occupational health care and advice, and all supporting administrative duties.

·Maintaining continuing medical education, personal developments plans, and satisfying the requirements of recertification and revalidation.

Please note that this is a Part Time position of 27 hours per week with a Fixed Term contract length of 3 years.


Qualifications and Memberships



  • Registered General Practitioner.
  • Doctors will provide Certificate of Prescribed Equivalent Experience or Statement of Acquired Rights (now known as CCT) from the Joint Committee in Post Graduate Training in General Practice (JCPGT(GP)). To hold this certificate, they will also have to hold a Post Graduate Training Certificate in General Practice and a Certificate of General Practice Vocational Training (GPVT). Doctors need all above to be registered on GMC as GP.


Candidates who are in the final stage of training and due to qualify, are eligible to apply for this vacancy, however if found successful, you will not be able to take up the post until all required qualifications, memberships and registrations detailed in the advert and associated attachments are attained.




  • Current GMC registration: on GP register and with a licence to practise.
  • Valid UK driving licence.




  • Hold or currently in final stages of study for Diploma in Occupational Medicine (DOccMed) of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (London).
  • Musculoskeletal medicine.
  • Knowledge of medical IT systems used in Defence Medical Services - e.g. DMICP.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

This is a fixed term appointment as a Civilian Medical Practitioner. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due to a funding review. Your appointment will therefore run from for a period of 3 years.
