Based at the West Cumberland Hospital, we are seeking to recruit experienced Band 5/6 Midwives to provide specialist expertise to clients in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, delivering high quality, evidence based care to women and acting as advocate for women and protector of the child within the hospital / community setting. .

You will be responsible and accountable for the development of the maternity service to ensure high standards of clinical care are maintained, you will also maintain professional development, liaise with other professionals in the multidisciplinary team, and support the other midwives in developing the maternity services.

Applicants will possess a degree in midwifery or equivalent; teaching certificate or equivalent and further relevant development to postgraduate certificate or equivalent. You will also have experience of clinical practice in all aspects of midwifery care and water birth.

Personal development of staff is actively encouraged and applications from newly qualified midwives are welcome.

The requirement for Band 5/6 is that you are willing  to gain experience , working autonomously within guidelines and sphere of practice as a midwife and managing non-routine labour situations e.g. foetal death
