Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant General Paediatrician to be based at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Hospital in Cramlington on a full time or part time basis.

The successful candidate will have expertise in General Paediatrics and will have a major role in the development of the Children’s Unit and Special Care Baby Unit at the Northumbria Hospital. We would be particularly interested in appointing a paediatrician with an interest in Emergency Paediatrics, but there are opportunities to develop other specialist interests within the department.

You will work alongside other consultant paediatricians and participate in the training of junior doctors and paediatric and neonatal nurse practitioners in the department. When not consultant of the week you will have regular clinics at either Wansbeck or North Tyneside General Hospital.

The post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week which includes some on-site working in the evenings and at weekends. There is an overnight on call commitment of 1 in 8 nights but no overnight resident duties.
