Resident Consultant General Paediatrician


Full Time; applications from job sharers are welcome

As part of an exciting new model of care provision, we are looking for a dynamic Consultant Paediatrician. Expanding the existing consultant workforce, these posts have been implemented as a drive to enhance quality of care with Consultant delivered care on-site 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year. It is also envisaged that they will enrich learning and training opportunities for specialty trainees whatever time of day their shift. Interest in acute paediatrics and neonatology along with a commitment to education would be an advantage.

You will be part of a core Consultant team providing over-night on site cover for the Paediatric and Neonatal departments. You will run dedicated consultant clinics in the paediatric outpatient suite, and provide acute cover during daytime shifts which will allow leading of inpatient ward rounds on both the General Paediatric and Neonatal sides of the department. The posts have appropriate SPA allocations to allow CPD and development of personal specialist interests, as well as support the governance activity of the department and allow assumption of lead roles within the department.

This position is for 10 PAs per week and is permanent. We welcome applications from those wishing to job share. Due to the nature of working patterns this post is not compatible with part time working. You will need to be in possession of a CCT in Paediatrics (or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving CCT from the date of interview.
