Clinical Fellow in Haematology and Oncology

Fixed Term – 12 months

Basic Salary £31,841 -£50,068 per annum

This is a non-training post equivalent to ST1 – ST3 or ST3+ level

This is a post created for an enthusiastic and highly-able Paediatric Haematology-Oncology trainee to gain clinical experience in Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant and Oncology specialties at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, at middle grade level. The postholder will work at middle grade level in the departments of oncology, bone marrow transplant and clinical haematology. There is no commitment to laboratory haematology. The duration of the post will be for 12 Months.

The postholder will be able to gain valuable experience in managing children with solid tumours, CNS tumours, leukaemias, bone marrow transplants and non-malignant haematological conditions including haemoglobinopathies and bleeding disorders. There will be opportunities for research and audit. Full participation in the postgraduate activity of the hospital is encouraged and the postholder will receive the same entitlement to leave and study leave as ST3+ Level. It provides an ideal opportunity for additional training in haematology, transplantation and oncology in one of the largest Principal Treatment Centres in the UK. It would be particularly suitable for trainees post MRCPCH (or equivalent) who wish to gain experience in a large UK paediatric haematology / oncology centre, prior to committing to a career in either paediatric haematology or paediatric oncology in their home country.
