We are delighted to have been one of the few practices selected to host the first wave of post-CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) GP fellowships.

This is an exciting and innovative opportunity for a qualified GP to expand their knowledge of primary care whilst also developing and implementing public health projects in the practice area. Fellowship programmes directly contribute to the transformation of the primary care workforce by supporting both the acquisition of clinical maturity in general practice and extended development in public health; furthering both local workforce capability and the career aspirations of the GP Fellows themselves. Working collaboratively with public health teams locally, the aspiration is that this innovative approach will help reduce health inequalities and improve population health within the practice area.

The fellowship targets early to mid-career GP’s; we also welcome applications from those who will qualify as a GP in the near future.

The successful applicant will work up to 5 sessions per week in General Practice at Lintonville Medical Group, Ashington and up to 4 sessions per week undertaking project work closely with the Consultant in Public Health and their Public Health Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust. During project work, the GP will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital and will establish links with Northumberland County Council’s Public Health Team. The focus of the project work will be on deprivation and reducing health inequalities via social prescribing and other interventions. A study leave bursary is available to support professional development in public health.

The GP’s at Lintonville are supported by an excellent nursing and wider multidisciplinary clinical team including Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and Musculoskeletal Practitioners as well as a highly experienced administrative and management support team to help manage the day to day clinical workload.

For further information or to arrange an informal visit to the Practice, please contact Sue Glennie, HR Manager on 01670 502324 sue.glennie@nhs.net
