The Therapy Department is held in high regard within the hospital, and has a good track record of service developments, and innovative ways of working to provide high quality and efficient services to all our patients. All of our staff are supported by a committed team of highly specialised clinical therapists, with close supervision, regular in-service training, funding for external courses and close post graduate links with UWE plus Plymouth and Bournemouth Universities.

We currently have 3 vacancies for Band 5 Occupational Therapists. The post holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in the clinical areas of: Reablement, Frailty, Respiratory, Admission Avoidance, Elderly Rehabilitation, Neurology (including stroke and neuro inpatients), and Orthopaedics (elective and trauma).

We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate Occupational Therapist who has wide ranging undergraduate experience with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our dynamic team. Working alongside Highly Specialist Senior Occupational Therapists and clinical leads, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching and service development skills. You will be competent in your ability to assess patients that present with a wide range of conditions. To facilitate this, you will have a sound knowledge of occupational performance, physical function, sociology and psychology that when underpinned by clinical reasoning skills, will allow you to formulate appropriate individualised management plans for the individuals you work with.

You will be supported in developing these Occupational Therapy skills by the appropriate Speciality Leads and encouraged in your professional development from a large and supportive therapy team. At Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust we value the importance of professional development, training and high quality clinical supervision for all our staff.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working within a team but also happy to work as an autonomous practitioner who is dedicated to providing the highest standard of clinical care for their patients.

Continuing professional development is encouraged through the appraisal system and there is a well-established in service education programme. Attendance at post registration courses is supported.
