Sheffield Children’s Hospital is one of only four independent Specialist Paediatric Hospitals in the country.

We provide dedicated healthcare for children and young people, including highly specialised health care such as Neurosurgery, Oncology, Endocrinology, Specialist Orthopaedics, Neonatal Surgery, Metabolic Disease, Gastroenterology, Respiratory Diseases, Intensive Care, Cystic Fibrosis and Neurology.

This acute tertiary Teaching Hospital provides a stimulating and professionally rewarding environment for staff to demonstrate their expertise in a supportive and friendly environment.

We are looking for a keen and committed pharmacist with excellent communication skills and clinical pharmacy knowledge to join the Pharmacy Team as a Specialist Pharmacist – Commissioning.

You will join a Pharmacy Department with over 50 staff, including 20 other Pharmacists with expertise in a wide range of specialities, in providing pharmacy services to children.

You will work to monitor the use of high cost drugs across the Trust and identify potential cost savings on them as part of the Trust’s QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention) programme.

This will involve close working with the full multidisciplinary team and with colleagues in NHS England & NHS Improvement. You will participate in the full range of pharmacy services provided to the Trust including weekend working.

You will be a Pharmacist registered with the GPhC with a Post Graduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma and significant hospital Pharmacy experience and experience of conducting audits.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
