We are looking to recruit dynamic and focused applicants to the exciting post of Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine (ST3-6). Posts are currently available and will be based at Weston General Hospital.

Weston Area Health NHS trust is renowned for our teaching, training and support with modern educational facilities. There will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation.

The post of Specialty Doctor is full time (although applications from part-time candidates are welcome) and full participation in the shift pattern rota with your middle-grade colleagues is required. All shifts are full shifts on site and there is no on-call cover. The appointee will be joining our team of 7 Consultants, 7 Middle Grades, 8 Junior Doctors, an experienced ED nursing team plus an award winning Front Door Frailty Service.

You will have completed at least four years’ full time postgraduate training or part-time/flexible equivalent, at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty, or as a fixed term specialty trainee, or you will be able to demonstrate equivalent training and competencies from your previous employment.You will possess MRCEM or FCEM intermediate.

This is a one year post which may be extended by mutual agreement subject to satisfactory progress. We are interested to hear from candidates who might wish to spend three months of the year in a supporting specialty such as acute frailty, acute medicine or trauma and orthopaedics, or indeed might wish to spend 3 months in a teaching, quality improvement role or away from the trust, (which could be supported by an annualised contract).
