The Role

 

The successful post holder must have relevant qualifications to join the Departments Sonographers in the provision of a professional extended 7 day ultrasound service.

The role of the post holder (sonographer) is to perform and report independently on a wide range of ultrasound examinations.

In the General ultrasound area, this includes MSK, renal, abdominal, Doppler, gynecological, early pregnancy, vascular and small parts scans. Applicants with a good range of these skill sets are eligible to apply for the post. The General ultrasound area consists of four Ultrasound rooms equipped with either GE or Toshiba machines. Two further satellite scan rooms provide an Early Pregnancy service, plus additional outpatient scanning.

The maintenance of a high standard of patient care and medical ethics is essential.

The sonographer is involved in the clinical training of ultrasound trainees and other medical personnel; and the supervision of newly qualified sonographers and radiographic assistants.

Our General Ultrasound services are equipped with Toshiba or GE ultrasound machines which are fully integrated to the trust wide Insignia PACS system.

The departments offer a professional but friendly and open working culture. There is also ample, allocated on site staff parking.
