Senior Fellow in Orthogeriatrics

Applications are invited for a Senior Fellow in Orthogeriatrics at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe. This post is a new post.

An opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term Senior Fellow in Orthogeriatrics. This post is suitable for post CCT doctors with an aspiration for a career in Care of the Elderly and General Practitioners with a specialist interest in Care of the Elderly. We would like to appoint a highly motivated doctor with good team working skills and a desire for innovation. These skills are essential to the continued development of this role. The job entails

The post holder will lead the Orthogeriatrics assessment and management of medical pathologies and the pre-operative optimisation and care of Trauma and Orthopaedic patients at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. A structured timetable of activities will be provided under the supervision of Dr L. Garcia-Alen, Consultant Orthogeriatrician. The successful candidate will be given active support with Quality Improvement Projects / Audit and clinical research and will be expected to present and publish this work as appropriate. There is no on-call commitment with this post.

This post is aimed at Geriatric Medicine Trainees who are approaching or have completed specialist training in Geriatric Medicine (CCT or equivalent) and GPs with a special interest in Geriatric Medicine / Orthogeriatrics.

This post does not attract an NTN. The post has not been approved by the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) as a training post. If applicable, the successful applicant will be responsible for obtaining local Programme Director and PMETB pre-approval in order for this post to contribute to their award of CCT.

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a License to Practice.
