Leading the way in Research

This is an exciting opportunity to join the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Royal Devon and Exeter Foundation Trust. We are at the forefront of clinical research at national and international level. Participation in clinical research demonstrates the Trust’s commitment to improving the quality of care we offer and to making our contribution to wider health improvement.

The Trust is situated in Exeter, surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside and Dartmoor. We employ around 8,000 staff serving a core population of more than 460,000 people in Exeter, East Devon and Mid-Devon. We admit more than 120,000 patients and hold 450,000 outpatient clinics every year, spending nearly £500 million a year on delivering high quality acute and community-based healthcare.

Our pharmacy clinical trials team covers activity across all specialities including oncology and haematology and also the NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility. The team comprises of the clinical trials manager, 2 clinical trials technicians, a senior assistant technical officer and clinical trials pharmacist. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist, with the potential to perform at a high level to support the current clinical trials pharmacist and the wider team. The position will also include the opportunity to get involved in clinical and ward based work as we look forward to the implementation of a new integrated care and EPR system called MyCare. We are committed to providing and supporting education and personal development opportunities for all staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Final approval of pharmacy trial specific procedures in line with standard operating procedures and Good Clinical Practice ensuring high quality care and safety for our patients.
  • Assessment of the financial impact of individual trials.
  • Electronic prescribing set up and validation work.
  • Liaison with a wide range of staff, to ensure the smooth set-up, delivery and close-down of all research projects in the Trust to maintain our excellent reputation within the research community.

The post-holder will participate in on-call, weekend, late duty and bank holiday rosters.

Hours: 37.5

Salary: Band 7 £37,570 to £43,772 per annum
