The Sid Valley Admiral Nurse has been supporting families living with the complexities of dementia since March 2017. We are now looking for an exceptionalnew nurse to continue delivering this service, hosted by the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and delivered in partnership with the charity Dementia UK.

Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who offer expert practical, clinical and emotional support to families involved in the care of a person with dementia with complex needs. Based within the muti-disciplinary community team and working alongside nurses, therapists, primary care, social care and the third sector, you will also benefit from being a part of a Clinical Network of Admiral Nurses working across the East Devon area.

We are looking for a registered (adult / mental health / learning disability) nurse with a passion for, and significant experience of, providing person-centred and relationship-centred dementia care. Combining direct work with families with supporting the best practice of health and social care professionals, you will call upon your impressive knowledge of bio-psychosocial interventions to improve the experience of carers / families affected by dementia.

The post holder will need to have the ability to work in a variety of settings including seeing carers and families individually, running groups and some teaching/training - balancing a clinical caseload with developing and maintaining a service.

Dementia UK will support you to strengthen your clinical expertise as a specialist nurse through monthly clinical supervision and practice and professional development. You’ll become part of a network of Admiral Nurses, and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate courses and develop professionally, informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
