Community care is currently an exciting place to work within the NHS, with much of health care and focus on the development of pioneering care in the community in an attempt to relieve pressure from the acute hospitals by decreasing admissions and facilitating discharge. Our respiratory integrated MDT is currently delivering care citywide across Leeds and now we have been given the chance to increase further with recruitment of a band 6 respiratory nurse specialist!

We are at an exciting time where we have been given the opportunity to expand our department, with fantastic prospects for a respiratory nurse specialist who has a passion for respiratory, patient centred care and community style of working. This role give the great opportunity of nurses to work across both community and acute health care settings, this is beneficial are we are continually building inter-professional relationships and networks across the scope of health care.

In this role you will work closely with our extremely experienced integrated COPD team to deliver care with support of nurses, physiotherapist occupational therapist and support through
RespiratoryConsultant led MDT meetings. The remit of a respiratory specialist nurse has a very varied and expert scope including providing care to patients predominantly with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) through different pathways, these are, and supported early discharge (CERS), home visits for hospital discharge as well as Chronic Disease Management and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The Team also runs the Home Oxygen Service in Leeds which provides assessment and monitoring for Respiratory and Non-Respiratory patients requiring home oxygen. This exciting and varied role is what has established our team as a specialist department with a wide reaching reputation for excellence.

So who are we looking for?

We're looking for an individual who loves a challenge and strives for excellence in the way they work and a candidate with a passion for respiratory. The post holder will be required to have previous experience in managing Respiratory conditions which we would explore further at interview. You'll also need to show a flare / zest for respiratory medicine and also show a flexibility in your working style as the community respiratory team is ever changing, developing and progressing!

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If you currently have a driving licence but no car we can also explore the option of our in-house car lease scheme, however we would stress it is vital to be able to access patients around the city. If required adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act. The post requires an enhanced DBS check.
