We are currently seeking Healthcare Support Workers to join our Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities PICU/Acute Service at The Huntercombe Hospital Roehampton, 4 miles from Richmond and 9 miles from central London.

The Huntercombe Hospital Roehampton is a 39 bedded purpose-built psychiatric intensive care unit in South West London. The hospital provides a secure and safe, gender-specific environment for adults who have suffered an acute deterioration or relapse in their mental wellbeing. We specialise in providing intensive and bespoke, individualised treatment plans working collaboratively with patients and their families or carers.

The hospital is located just off the A306 in Roehampton, 4 miles from Richmond and 9 miles from central London. The nearest main line train station is Putney or Barnes with good transport links to the hospital. We employ staff in a variety of different roles and provide ongoing support with comprehensive training, learning and development opportunities.

As a Support Worker you will support the senior team in the running of the shift, whilst showing warmth and support to our patients/residents and their families; helping to promote independence and dignity and positively enhancing the lives of individuals in our care.

This exciting and dynamic role will place you at the heart of the team, working closely with residents/patients and other external professionals to deliver the best care and rehabilitation.

As a Healthcare Support Worker working in our Forensic Mental Health & Psychiatric Mental Health Services your main duties will be:

  • Maintaining and developing a high standard of care for our patients/residents by being aware of their individual needs and care programmes
  • To assist the senior trained staff in their day-to-day duties and clinical related tasks
  • Contributing towards effective communication, by reporting to the nurse in charge any information given by the patient/resident or relative of any incident or observation which may affect our patients physical/mental well-being
  • Providing practical assistance to our patients/residents in carrying out everyday living tasks whilst encouraging them to develop their daily living skills and realising their potential to live as independently as they find possible
  • To be actively involved with the day to day routine in individual and group activities
  • To practice within a legal framework encompassing statutory, organisational policy and guidelines.
