Looking to enhance your experience and develop your career in Medicine but wondering how you can balance workload and still have a life? Well, this job allows you to have it all! You can live in beautiful North Devon with beaches and moors close by and take up a post as a Clinical Fellow. We want applicants who will also bring integrity and compassion, continually strive for excellence and will be an active member of a supportive team, so applicants with these attributes who are only available from August are encouraged to apply as the post will be held for the right candidate. There are 2 posts in Medical Education and 2 in Simulation.

Clinical Fellow in Education:

The role will consist of ST3 equivalent clinical post and will be split on average into 4 clinical days and one self-study day/week. The successful applicant will also be funded by the Trust to undertake either a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (this can be extended to a Diploma) or Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Leadership. Posts may be extended to 2 years to allow attainment of a Masters qualification.

Clinical Fellow in Simulation

The role will consist of ST3 equivalent clinical post and will be split between Medicine (3 days) and simulation (2 days) per week. The post holder will develop their skills in delivering simulation to a wide range of staff including medical students, Foundation and Core trainees.

The successful candidate will be offered free training via a recognised Train the Trainers course and will be supported by incumbent simulation staff.

The post holders will be on the middle grade tier of the on call rota. Candidates who have achieved all the competencies of core medical training but have not achieved full MRCP will be considered. Candidates without PACES will be encouraged to join the in-house PACES teaching Programme.

The Trust is developing a good reputation for supporting doctors to gain foundation and core equivalency to strengthen their application for speciality training in the UK and we are building on this reputation in developing these clinical fellowships roles.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

According to many clinical targets, we rate as one of the best performing non-foundation trusts in England, because we treat patients in line with national waiting time standards, have very few hospital-acquired infections and meet our four-hour waiting times for urgent care. We have a huge range of clinical expertise that we share across professional spheres to ensure people get world-class care when they need it.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
