An opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Occupational Therapist at Arbury Court, Warrington.

At Arbury Court, care and treatment is provided to women over the age of 18 with Personality Disorders and Mental Illnesses. Services provided include Medium, Low Secure and Psychiatric Intensive Care (PICU).


The role includes:

  • Clinical tasks, such as carrying out assessments, reviewing treatment programmes, planning and facilitating needs-led, evidence-based individual and group treatment programmes, under the supervision of Senior/Specialist OT
  • Reviewing and reflecting on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal
  • Participating in the induction, training and education of students and other staff in this setting
  • Maintaining a professional portfolio for CPD, recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities, including mandatory training
  • Taking personal responsibility for ensuring the work practices and the environment meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work legislation and report all deficits to management


You will:

  • Have a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Have State Registration (HPC)
  • Have basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Have experience of working with patients with mental illnesses and providing Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments
  • Be orientated towards quality and evidence-based practice
  • Be able to research, plan, implement and evaluate a project for a specific patient group
  • Have knowledge of current legislation specific to this clinical environment
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills
  • Have experience of dealing with and coping with confrontation, challenging behaviour and personal stress
  • Have an understanding of issues relating to secure settings and risk management
