This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated administrator to join our busy Clinical Funding Team part time working Wednesday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00.

East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group is a leading NHS organisation with an award winning governing body. Working closely with partner organisations, the CCG's 300 staff design, plan and commission health services for more than half a million people and monitor the quality and effectiveness of those services.

Many treatments and procedures are routinely commissioned and available in the NHS. However, there are some which require prior funding approval from the local commissioners before the treatment or procedure can take place. This ensures that patients receive the appropriate treatment at the appropriate time and allows us to prioritise those who are most at need. This process requires the patient’s clinician to make a funding application and submit it to the clinical funding team.

Based at Charter House in Welwyn Garden City, the Clinical Funding Team provides the Prior Approval (PA) and Individual Funding Request (IFR) service for East & North Herts CCG & Herts Valleys CCG.

The successful post holder will be fully involved in the day to day processing of PA funding applications and duties include lots of high volume, time critical data input. You will work closely with our Clinical team of Nurses and Doctors who make the funding decisions to provide support, type and proof read letters, manage the busy mailbox, maintain the database and liaise with GP surgeries, hospitals, patients and clinicians over the phone which requires an excellent and professional telephone manner. The role will also provide cover for IFR when necessary and occasionally take high quality minutes at clinical decision meetings.

This is a very demanding role which involves high levels of administrative and secretarial skills and the ability to prioritise and work on your own initiative and maintain a high level of attention to detail in order to comply with information governance and protect patient sensitive information.

Our forward thinking, financially robust and clinically-led organisation is based in the centre of Welwyn Garden City, a 1920's 'garden city' in the heart of Hertfordshire. Welwyn Garden City is 25 minutes from central London by train and easily accessed from the A1 and other major road networks.
