Trainee Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP)

Band 6

Full Time (37.5 hours per week) + on-call

This is an exciting time for Papworth having moved to the new state of the art, purpose built hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in April 2019. The move to this site will allow Papworth hospital to work alongside some of the world’s leading healthcare companies and organisations including Cambridge University Hospitals, giving our patients immediate access to a range of services and also expanding opportunities in terms of research and education.

We are looking for a dynamic Registered Health Care professional to join our expanding SCP team.The successful candidate will undertake a full two year internal training program and the MSc in Surgical Care Practice at Anglian Ruskin University. This National Qualification along with the internal training program with enable the development of the skills & Competencies required while performing operative procedures under the direction of the Consultant Surgeons. The training program will also develop the skills required to assist in all aspects of pre, peri, and post-operative care of the patient. We will support you to achieve your potential by offering you a programme of development from experienced Theatre staff and dedicated SCP Educators.

You will require the following attributes: 

  • Registered healthcare professional (Nursing/ODP)
  • A degree or a qualification equivalent to a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience post basic qualification in Theatres or Critical Care.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills, organisational skills and the ability to deal with ever changing priorities.

Salary range: AFC Band 6.
