Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. Following an NHSI initiative to establish 29 Pathology networks across England the University Hospital of North Midlands is currently working closely with Mid and East Cheshire NHS Trusts to establish a Pathology network across Staffordshire and Cheshire.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Consultant Breast Radiographer full time post based in the Breast Care Unit at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

We are a friendly, experienced team and we have an excellent working relationship with all associated breast disciplines.

Leighton Hospital is a 540 bed District General Hospital located on the edge of Crewe in a rural setting.

The Crewe breast unit is a static unit based within the main hospital.

The breast unit offers a comprehensive screening/assessment and symptomatic breast service serving the local population of South Cheshire. We also provide a radiographer led family history assessment service.

The unit currently offers around 350 screening appointments per week.

The unit is fully digital and provides 2 screening assessment sessions and 5 one stop symptomatic sessions per week all of which are Consultant led.

We have 2 Siemens Inspiration Mammomat Prime units; one has stereotactic biopsy facilities and 1 Toshiba Aplio 300 ultrasound machine.

We perform vacuum biopsies and excisions using the Encor Enspire device.

Advanced practice has been implemented for film reading and stereotactic interventional procedures.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated candidate to join the multidisciplinary breast team who is committed to providing a high quality breast diagnostic service.

The successful candidate must be trained to Masters level in ultrasound, film reading and interventional procedures.

The candidate must demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and have experience of working autonomously within a dynamic breast service.

We are looking for a candidate who possesses excellent communication  and decision making skills

You will be expected to work with the multidisciplinary breast team and present and discuss breast cases at the weekly multidisciplinary team meeting.
