Senior Clinical Coder Band 4

Due to promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic experienced clinical coder to join our friendly and professional Clinical Coding Team.

We are seeking candidates who have already gained Accredited Clinical Coder status and have experience of coding across all specialities within an acute Trust.

The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly, supporting the Clinical Coding team in the timely and accurate Clinical Coding of all inpatient episodes, adhering to national coding standards and best practice guidelines, as set out by NHS Classifications Service

Clinical Coders support the Trust, as reliable, accurate and up to date clinical coding is vital in monitoring our clinical effectiveness. It also ensures that the hospital receives correct reimbursement for the healthcare it delivers. Clinical Coding data is essential for the effective management of the Trust, and also forms the basis for clinical audit, clinical governance reporting.

You will need to have an eye for detail and possess excellent analytical skills, be confident using IT systems and be able to work to strict deadlines. Accuracy is a key requirement of this role. You will be required to work methodically on your own initiative and as part of a team and will need the ability to maintain this accuracy under the pressure of tight deadlines.

Other essential skills include excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with trainee clinical coders, auditors and clinicians.

All new starters with the Trust will be subject to a six month probationary period, with the exception of medical and dental candidates.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
