Care Home Practice Support Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician, interested in developing their career in primary care to join our highly respected Medicines Optimisation Team. We currently have an opportunity within our care home work stream for a care home support technician.


Primary purpose of the role is to assist the care home senior technician in promoting and implementing appropriate, evidence-based, quality, safe and cost effective use of medicines in GP practices and care homes across Coventry & Rugby. Post holder will facilitate audits of medicines management systems in care homes in order to implement and maintain systems to reduce medicines waste and work with secondary care to support the transfer of care of older people between care settings.

An understanding of prescribing in primary care is also required whilst experience of working with care home and community pharmacies would be advantageous. The post will involve travelling to various GP practices, care homes within Coventry and Rugby.

You will need to be a professionally qualified technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical council and have relevant experience.

If you are reliable,self motivated, with a 'can-do' approach then we would love to hear from you. Good communcation skills are essential. Computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required although training will be given in the GP clinical IT systems.
