The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.

Exciting opportunities have arisen for passionate individuals to apply for these innovative roles, developed in partnership between Kings College Hospital and Macmillan Cancer Support.  This collaborative improvement programme aims to provide people with cancer an excellent experience of care.

The Macmillan Cancer Psychological Support project team will be established as a new service at Kings College Hospital originated from a Programme of work in partnership with Macmillan and in relation to the Kings cancer priorities to improve cancer patients’ experience. The Team will not only offer clinical services, but scope all existing services in the community to integrate secondary and primary care, be able to share resources better and enable access to services in the most culturally and practically acceptable location to our appropriate ways for the population we serve.  The service will be led by a Lead Macmillan Cancer Team Psychologist.

The main objectives of this post will be to support the setting up of an integrated cancer psychological support services across KCH, contribute to the Project to successful evaluation to meet the service aims and objectives to achieve extension of this project. 

Key objectives for the service are to provide:

•  Timely access to effective psychological therapy tailored to the needs of patients throughout and following their cancer treatment journey.
•  A Psychological Support Team with links to cancer tumour group specific MDMs and rehabilitation services in secondary and primary care
•  Contacts with the community and pathways of referrals and care to ensure patients receive care at most acceptable and supportive environment to them closer to home
• Training, advice and support for reflective practice which meets the learning needs of staff throughout services for people with cancer at King’s

These are for two 24 months' fixed term posts, with potential for extension.  Each post holder will be expected to cover one post at each trust. Secondment opportunities will also be considered.  Both Kings College Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital University Trust offers a vibrant and supportive working environment.
