Clinical Coding Engagement Lead

Job Reference: 425-A-19-29969

Employer:
Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust
Department:
Clinical Coding
Location:
Sheffield
Salary:
£28,050 - £36,644 per annum

Becoming a centre of excellence for Paediatric Clinical Coding is the vision of the Coding Department which, over the last couple of years, has seen significant investment in developing both the team and their engagement with both clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels.

We recognise the vital contribution of our Coding Team to our overall Trust performance and regard our team as pivotal to our future. The importance of a skilled coding workforce is paramount and we are committed to the ongoing training and development of our coding professionals, both personally and professionally.

We are now looking for a Clinical Coding Engagement Lead who can assist the Clinical Coding Manager to deliver a comprehensive training and audit programme, including significant interaction and collaboration with clinicians across all specialties. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, confident coder looking to take their mentoring and clinical engagement experience to the next level. You will be passionate about coding and be an Accredited Clinical Coder and preferably be an HSCIC Approved Auditor and/or Trainer or willing to work towards these qualifications.

Ideally, you will already have experience of working with clinicians and non-clinical staff at a senior level and be able to explain and report on complex coding concepts as well as understanding the wider impact of coding on Trust activity and income. You should have proven ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload on a daily basis. You will be expected to work closely with the Clinical Coding Manager to drive forward the Coding Department strategy to make Sheffield Children’s a centre of excellence for Paediatric Clinical Coding.

We are a small, friendly team working within a mostly centralised Coding Department and will have the support of a professionally structured team.

'The Trust would be happy to support the successful candidate through a Clinical Coding Trainer or Auditor training programme.'

For more information and an informal discussion please contact Nicole Dudley, Clinical Coding Manager on 0114 271 7313.
