An exciting yet challenging career opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) function of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WASTs) Clinical Control Centres (CCC).

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be to ensure 999 calls meet the International Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch (IAED) Accredited Centre of Excellence (ACE) standard on a monthly basis and report any areas for learning. This involves listening to 999 calls, assessing the call via standards set by the IAED and inputting details speedily and accurately into our AQUA software, therefore excellent keyboard skills are essential. Accurate records are to be kept to meet IAEDs re-accreditation standards and also maintain the AQUA database. The post holder will also work closely with your fellow Emergency Dispatch – Quality (ED-Qs) auditors and the 999 Emergency Medical Dispatchers to develop and deliver Personalised Improvement Plans (PIPs) as well as protocol training packages. The post holder will also be involved in the training of new staff. The qualities required for this position are a good standard of certified qualifications (minimum five GCSEs including English and Maths) as well as excellent ICT skills with the ability to use software packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Clerical skills, time management, interpersonal skills (including emotional intelligence and emotional resilience) and excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills are crucial. There is also a requirement for the successful candidate to answer 999 calls as part of the varied and exciting role. Experience in Quality Assurance is also desirable. Full induction training will be provided on appointment.

As we a national team, the vacant position will be located at Llangunnor Clinical Contact Centre, Carmarthen.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
