Head of Patient Safety Collaborative
Fixed Term / Secondment Opportunity - between one and three years
This key role will be responsible for leading and developing the East Midlands PSC and EMAHSN patient safety programme. The post holder will build on the current effective working with partner organisations to ensure the spread of a range of quality improvement projects across the East Midlands and beyond, making a real difference to patient safety and experience.
A natural networker with excellent communication and influencing skills, you will work across organisational boundaries bringing together the right people to assess readiness to adopt, secure commitment and support implementation plans. The drive, energy and tenacity to identify and develop routes to overcome barriers to implementation, sustainability and spread are a must.
This role offers a great opportunity to work closely with a wide range of clinical, academic and industry colleagues, across both East Midlands and other PSCs/AHSNs.
You will be able to evidence extensive knowledge of patient safety issues and experience of delivering large scale change in a range of health and care settings using quality improvement methodology. You will enjoy working collaboratively, overcoming barriers and seeking solutions to issues that arise.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders across the East Midlands and make connections nationally as part of the PSC and AHSN Network (a partnership of England’s 15 AHSNs).
This role is offered as a fixed term or secondment opportunity for up to three years (where line manager approval has been granted).
About EMAHSN
The East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN) is one of 15 AHSNs established by the NHS in 2013. We work in our local areas to identify and spread healthcare innovation – helping the NHS do things better and cheaper.
This involves working as an ‘honest broker’ bringing together many partners across sectors: the NHS, public health, local government, universities, voluntary organisations and healthcare companies.
The Patient Safety Collaborative is part of EMAHSN and its goal is to improve patient safety in the East Midlands.
As well as working in our own regions the 15 AHSNs, including the PSCs, collaborate as a national network to take what works best locally and quickly spread it throughout England.
Based on our outstanding impacts during our first 5 year licences, the AHSNs were relicensed from April 2018 to operate as the key innovation arm of the NHS.
EMAHSN is hosted by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). Whilst we are employed by NUH and follow the Trust’s policies and procedures, we operate as a standalone organisation with our own work programmes and separate offices, budgets, governance arrangements, branding and visual identity.
