Gastroenterology Clinical Nurse Specialist

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our well-established Gastroenterology nursing team. This post is a permanent, full time position, the successful candidate will be working alongside the current inflammatory bowel disease nurse specialist to develop a new nursing service to support and manage an expanding speciality within the medical directorate.


The role involves being part of a large multi-disciplinary team providing specialist care to the children and young people, (and their families) specifically with IBD. The post holder must be motivated, organised, have an interest in IBD, excellent communications skills as well as being a team player.They must also be able to recognise their own limitations.


While the post is mainly clinical in nature the post holder must be familiar with Word and Excel.


The role will include providing disease and drug education, specialist education to other health care professionals, liaising with schools, GP’s and community nursing teams as needed.


You will also participate in preparing young people for transition when ready from SCH NHS Foundation Trust to adult services.
