We provide a high quality range of acute care services and employ over 6,000 staff, who serve a population of approximately 400,000 people across Wirral, Ellesmere Port, Neston, North Wales and the wider North West footprint.

We have approximately 855 beds trust-wide and our financial turnover is in excess of £337m.

The Wirral is easily accessible to major airports and has excellent transport links including motorway, train, bus or ferry and within easy reach to the major cities of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.


The Trust is currently seeking a Delivery Director to support the Chief Operating Officer to lead the Business and Service Improvement Teams under a performance management framework which is aligned to national strategies, regulatory requirements and local Trust requirements; ensuring effective communication at all levels across the Trust and also all relevant external stakeholders and agencies.

The postholder will be expected to lead, promote and enable the embedding of a culture of performance management and delivery across the Trust, which is service / locality owned and led. Focus on the delivery of the Trust’s strategy with a robust accountability framework and well-defined escalation processes in place in the event of under-performance and/or non-delivery and business.

Lead the Trust’s Service Improvement Teams to ensure that a programme management methodology is used for all CIP and CQUIN programmes and to support Trust improvement and change programmes with PMO resource as required.

The postholder will be expected to use strong leadership and personal credentials to be able to work collaboratively across a range of boundaries and relationships including at Board level.

The postholder will possess the vision and integrity to lead change across complex systems with the ability to deliver sustained service change and improvement as part of delivering sustainable Trust contracts in an increasingly constrained and challenged environment.

The successful candidate will have collective responsibility, as a member of the senior management team, within the Chief Operating Officer’s Directorate, to influence and direct innovations that will shape and benefit the organisation as a whole; this will include demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills in order to undertake complex change management where required.

The postholder will be responsible for mitigating and managing risk within contracts entered into by the Trust and advising the Board regarding the Trust’s exposure to financial, clinical, reputational, performance and business risk.
