Salary:
£80,075 - £107,204 per annum

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London.

King’s College Hospital is looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team of Geriatricians in the Department of Clinical Gerontology at Denmark Hill.

This is a dynamic department with a strong track record in delivering innovative pathways of care, high quality multi-professional training and academic research.

King’s is in a privileged position having been a key partner in developing integrated older people’s services across health and social care and the third sector over recent years. As a member of Kings Health Partners, an Academic Health Sciences Centre, it offers unique opportunities to continue to improve services underpinned by cutting edge research.

The posts are ideal for aspiring clinical leaders holding a CCT in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal medicine or within 6 months of completing specialist training.

We are looking for excellent communicators who are committed to service improvement as well as patient care.

There are 2 posts that are available

Post 1) The focus for this post is on delivering care on our Frailty pathways. This includes working on the Frailty Assessment Unit, outpatient work including admission avoidance HOT clinics and supporting 2 other consultants on the short stay Health and Ageing ward (Byron Ward).

Post 2) This post will share responsibility for one of our Health and Ageing wards (Donne Ward- recently nominated for team of year at Kings). In addition the post holder will work with General Practitioners, community services and Southwark CCG to support local care homes and NHS Continuing Care assessment. One day a week will be based on our Frailty Assessment Unit.

Opportunities exist in both posts for other subspecialty interests to be accommodated and we would strongly support academic and research interests. The post holders would be expected to contribute to an unselected General Medical on call Rota. On call commitments may change in the future as we further develop our 7 day service commitment.

AAC interview Date: 05/07/2019.

Please note that the closing date may be amended to an earlier date if a suitable number of applicants has been received.
