Locum Consultant Emergency Medicine

 

We are one of the largest acute Trusts in the country and the biggest provider of acute healthcare services in NHS North East London and the City (NELC). Our dedicated workforce of 6,500 staff and volunteers serve our local population of around 750,000, from a wide range of social and ethnic groups.

 

We are a specialist Trauma Centre with close links to the helicopter services. We are also a major cancer and neurosciences centre with high quality hyper-acute stroke services. Queens Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre with attendances of around 96,000 patients per annum, whilst ED at King George Hospital sees over 76,000 patients each year.

 

We aim to deliver outstanding care for our patients and provide the best working environment for our staff. We have excellent opportunities for Locum and Substantive Consultant to join our Emergency Department. Our hospitals are located within the greater London area. The local areas offer an excellent facility for shopping, sport and the area is also known for its multinational restaurants.

 

As a trust we are seeking dynamic can do doctors to ensure the growth of the department. We welcome all doctors who are interesting in Management, Quality Improvement; teaching to name a few

 

The BHRUT Emergency Department offers a range academic opportunity for doctors. For doctors who would like to enhance their careers, we can offer doctors a postgraduate resuscitation master’s degree through Queen Mary University London. We have an accredited Royal College of Emergency Medicine specialist training platform and can facilitate appropriate work based competencies in order to apply for specialist training in emergency medicine.

 

The ED Research Group is very active in single site and portfolio studies and doctors who are interested in research will be supervised and supported. The NIHR:CRN North Thames specialty lead for research is based at the Queens Hospital ED. We have an active ultrasound faculty who supervise & provide training in point of care emergency ultrasound, in addition to competency assessments in line with the RCEM Ultrasound guidelines.

 

We welcome applications from both newly qualified and established Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join and build a diverse team. Additional opportunities exist to develop subspecialty skills in Pre-hospital care, Paediatrics, Trauma, Ambulatory Emergency Care, and also in ITU/Critical Care.

 

The department sees education as a high priority with an active Resuscitation Training Department, which delivers ALS/ATLS/NALS/APLS/ILS and ALERT courses. You will be encouraged to support these courses. There is opportunity to develop research interests in Emergency Medicine.

 

Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council (or eligible if currently working overseas). Applicants can be within 6 months of Specialist Registration within interview date, or 12 months as a fixed term working towards Specialist Registration. Fellow of the College of Emergency Medicine (FCEM) or equivalent is essential.
