Bedford NHS Trust is a uniquely situated NHS Trust with a relatively small footprint with up to 410 beds and over 2700 staff supporting a planned and reactive healthcare service to a cohort of over 300,000. The Trust Boards of Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital have agreed to explore plans to merge and form one NHS Trust. Under the umbrella of the single NHS Trust, both hospitals will retain their identity and individual hospital names. All key services will remain on both sites and will be managed as single teams across the whole Bedfordshire catchment area. This will bring many benefits for patients including much improved continuity of care


Are you a student nurse due to qualify in 2019? Bedford Hospital would like to support you in your transition to a registered nurse and have recently extended and remodelled the preceptorship programme to ensure you are fully supported all the way through the next steps of your journey.Our preceptorship programme will take you through Year 1 which includes induction, supernumerary time as well as attendance as various study days.Year 2 includes developing your clinical, leadership and management skills as well as gaining experience in different areas whilst year 3 focuses on your chosen next steps in your career.

We have a variety of opportunities available across a range of wards and departments and we are dedicated to delivering excellence in patient care whilst providing scope for professional development. As a welcome to the Trust we are happy to fund your first year's NMC registration.

Probationary Period

For all Agenda for Change posts these are subject to the successful completion of a probationary period of 6 months within which the notice period for both you and Bedford Hospital NHS Trust is Four weeks.
