Job Type: Permanent, full time (39 hours per week) Registered Nurse

Rate of Pay: £14.50 - £17 per hour (£29,406 - £34,476 per annum)

Ashview Nursing Home is a 32 bedded Nursing Home caring for elderly residents with a variety of nursing needs, including nursing care, respite care, palliative care and continuing care. Ashview is equipped to offer residents the complete care package. With dedicated accommodation for just 32 residents, we’ve refurbished this specialist environment to provide practicality with an intimate and homely feel.

We are currently recruiting for Night Registered Nurses who will be expected to supervise, support and develop a team of Care Workers to enable the delivery of high quality care in line with the identified needs and personal preferences of the residents. The successful candidate will be expected to act as a role model in the delivery of personal, social and emotional care. To formally supervise care staff, to delegate tasks, and through the assessment of individual needs, produce appropriate and effective risk assessments and care plans. The post holder will also be required to monitor and safeguard the quality of service delivery and record keeping, ensuring that they meet the requirements of Westgate’s Policies & Procedures, the National Minimum Standards and Care Quality Commission Guidance. The Night Registered Nurse will act as named nurse for a group of residents and will regularly take charge of shifts as directed by the Home Manager / Clinical Lead.

  • Work within a team in a care home environment for the elderly
  • Comply with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times
  • Act as Nurse-in-Charge and lead the staff team and delegate work effectively to junior staff
  • Ensure that all residents have full risk assessments and person-centred care plans in place and that these are regularly reviewed and updated
  • Take responsibility for medication administration and management
  • Carry out other Nursing duties associated with the role including management of resident needs, audits, record keeping, wound dressings, PEG feeds, phlebotomy, catheters etc
  • Promote resident independence and respect their dignity and choices at all times
  • Work on a flexible, rotational basis according to the rota set by the Home Manager and the needs of the home which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round
  • Supervise and train junior staff as well as receiving personal supervision and training and developing own skills
  • Work in line with Company policies and procedures


  • Right towork in the UK
  • Qualification as RNA or RGN Level 1, or RNMH or RMN Level 1
  • Hold valid and current NMC registration and pin number (we will consider applicants who are awaiting their NMC pin number)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Previous experience in a care home environment or in working with the elderly (desirable but not essential)
  • Applicants must have a desire to care for others and be compassionate and flexible
