An extremely exciting opportunity has arisen in our accident and emergency department (AED) to recruit enthusiastic and motivated band 5 nurses into our new department Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU)

 

CDU consists of 8 trolley spaces and a seating area. The unit is fast paced with a high patient turnover, seeing approx. 30 patients a day. This new department is aimed at nursing predominantly emergency admission consisting of patients such as:

 

    • Low and Intermediate Chest Pain

 

    • Renal Colic awaiting (KUB)

 

    • Head injuries

 

    • Awaiting OT/Physio/Social worker assessment

 

    • Awaiting blood results

 

    • Asthma

 

    • Cellulitis

 

    • Post sedation observation

 

    • Pulmonary Embolism awaiting CTPA

 

You will work closely with the AED tea, multi-disciplinary team and AED co-ordinators to enable positive patient journey, flow and ease pressures. The unit has a multi-disciplinary approach and a strong philosophy of team work, with a commitment to deliver high standards of care. Our MDT consists of;

    • Emergency department therapy tea
    • Crisis team
    • Social services
    • Community matron
    • Safeguarding team
    • HALT

You will need excellent communication skills, to forward think and problem solve, with a positive attitude and work ethics.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adult's and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women's and children's services including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients across the North West, North wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
