The Role

At GEH we are really excited to be looking for an experienced nurse to apply as the Trust-wide Lead Named Nurse for safeguarding children. This is the first time we will have a full time dedicated safeguarding

Lead nurse as we recognise the value and importance of protecting and supporting children in our care.

We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who

    • Is enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about safeguarding children
    • Has expert knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance in relation to safeguarding children
    • Will ensure the statutory responsibilities of the Trust are met and systems and policies are maintained
    • Has a high standard of safeguarding practice
    • Will provide consultation, advice and expert supervision for staff as required.
    • Have skills to deliver and co-ordinate safeguarding children training
    • Is an excellent communicator and has excellent inter-personal skills
    • Has managerial experience in leading teams
    • Demonstrates leadership skills to deal competently with complex issues.
    • The successful post holder will be able to work independently utilising their experience of multi-agency approach to the Safeguarding agenda.
    • Working in collaboration with the Named Doctors and other professionals, in ensuring comprehensive and robust arrangements are in place for safeguarding children and young people at the GEH NHS Trust.

For this post you will be a registered nurse and hold a current registration with the NMC. You will be educated to Degree/Masters Level and be able to demonstrate expertise of children’s safeguarding and also an awareness of adult safeguarding issues.

As an experienced leader and well organised professional you will work well under pressure and to tight timescales. You will have excellent communication skills to engage with a wide variety of internal managers, staff and external partner agencies.

The post requires a commitment to supervision, training and training development within the role.

The successful candidate will receive excellent support, regular good quality supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development.

If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10 minute presentation on a title provided prior to the day of interview.

This post is available at a Band 8A 37.5 hours per week working those hours between Monday to Friday each week.
