We are pleased to offer an opportunity to join Geriatric Medicine in one of the country’s largest acute NHS Trusts.

Whipps Cross University Hospital is part of Barts Health NHS Trust and is situated in Waltham Forest, North East London. The hospital serves a diverse local population of more than 350,000.

Our department is undergoing a period of expansion and service development in conjunction with the local health economy to provide a first class service to our local population both in and outside of Whipps Cross University Hospital.

The service currently supplies inpatient services including Acute Geriatrics, a Frailty unit, Orthogeriatrics, Surgical liaison. We also provide CGA clinics, we support memory services and the Barts Health Dementia and Delirium team.

We are entering an exciting time of development for services in our brand new Hospital being planned at the current time and these post is part of a significant investment aimed at transforming geriatric medicine care on the Whipps Cross Site.

We’re looking for dynamic individuals who want to join us with their ideas and enthusiasm, as well as a passion for providing excellent clinical care to older people. The posts are full time, 10PA (7.5 DCC, 2.5SPA typically).

We’ll encourage you to develop a subspecialty interest and clinical leadership roles are encouraged. There is flexibility in this and we would welcome a variety of special interests.

The Orthogeriatrics post will help oversee the development of Whipps Cross into a regional centre of excellence for frailty in Orthopaedics and the Barts Health centre for fractured neck of femur treatment.

Candidates must have GMC registration with a license to practice and have MRCP or equivalent and be able to demonstrate a suitable background and experience in managing all aspects of elderly care, evidenced by CCT (or within 6 months of expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview) or CESR.

The Hospital is surrounded by the spectacular Epping forest and beautiful countryside but also within the vibrant and exciting hub that is East London. Stansted airport is a 30 minute drive away allowing easy weekend breaks.

The Care Quality Commission has recognised the significant improvements made at Whipps Cross in their latest visit and the 2018 Staff Survey results showed staff have seen many improvements in their working lives.
