Cygnet Hospital Wyke offers a range of mental health services for men including acute and psychiatric intensive care along with a specialist locked service for older men who continue to present behavioural challenges. Cygnet Wyke has 3 diffrent wards:


•Austen Ward – Male PICU – 14 beds

•Branwell Ward – Male Emergency Admission Acute – 19 beds

•Anderson Ward – Female Emergency Admission Acute– 18beds

We are seeking a Health Care Support Worker to join us at Cygnet Wyke on Austen Ward. Austen Ward is a locked-door service that can support up to 14 men in a psychiatric intensive care (PICU) setting. The service has QNPICU accreditation (Quality Network for PICU services) from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.


Working as an active member of our dynamic MDT, you'll provide support for our nursing staff including the admission, assessment, implementation and discharge of inpatients, with a focus on dignity and safety at all times. You'll bring with you a sound level of literacy and numeracy skills and preferably an NVQ level 2/3 in a relevant care setting. With some experience working in a secure a psychiatry service you'll have a good level of physical fitness and a strong, flexible mental aptitude in order to meet the demands of the role. Demonstrating the abilities, experience and skills needed to deal effectively with challenging situations, you have an active interest in developing your knowledge and skills.
